Food Services, Distribution & Purchasing Department 1240 Cooper Avenue, Salinas, CA 93905 Office: (831) 753-5776 / Fax: (831) 753-5784 Irene Vargas, Director Our Mission The mission of the AUSD’s Nutrition Network Program is to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables and the physical activity of students and their families. Nutrition educators provide instruction in classrooms throughout the district. Our students learn the importance of healthy eating and healthy living. The AUSD Nutrition Network program seeks to increase public awareness of the importance of eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables every day for better health through nutrition education and garden based nutrition and physical education. Gardens are located at various sites and the community is invited to participate. Network for a Healthy California The Food Services Department currently provides: 8500 meals per day of Breakfast, Lunch and After School Snack. Food Service provides Catering Services and Senior Congregate Meals through out the Monterey County. The meals served by the Food Services Department are analyzed on a monthly basis and meet the USDA Dietary Guidelines. An average of 2100 breakfasts, 7600 lunches, and 900 after school snacks are served on a daily basis. The current menu is available in PDF format in both Engilsh and Spanish below. |
