Dear Parents and Community,

It is with pleasure that we welcome you to a new school year, ’09-10'. We are determined to make this school year a very successful one. As always, students’ academic achievement and safety are our first priorities at Virginia Rocca Barton School.

Everyone at Virginia Rocca Barton School will be taught to be a Peace Builder, and we ask that you support your child at home by promoting the same behavior expectations, to respect and care for one another. Assemblies and classroom instruction that promote such behavior will be part of their curriculum.

We look forward to working with you this year.

Sincerely,

Mr. Cabral

speech impediments, as well as a Special Ed Kinder and 5/6 Special Ed classes.

The School principal have served the school for one year. 99% of the teachers have taught at Virginia Rocca Barton for at least three years. A strong leadership team supports the efforts of staff to help shape classroom instruction and determine best use of the school’s resources. The school’s Leadership Team, which is comprised of grade level representatives, support staff & site administration, meets on a monthly basis to analyze and discuss the effectiveness of programs, determine the progress of actions in the school plan, and provide feedback and recommendations to School SiteCouncil. Subsequently, the School Site Council meets monthly to review student achievement data, analyze the effectiveness of programs, determine the progress of actions in the school plan, and revise the school plan as needed, based on their conclusions and recommendations from VRB’s Leadership Team.

VRB functions by the “Shared Decision Making Process.” This process is implemented using a school team concept.

The Leadership Team is an advisory committee to the principal. The Leadership Team is composed of a teacher from each grade level. The team meets the first Monday of every month from 2:45-3:30 p.m.
